ARCHIVE IMAGES - just a small selection from the extensive collection of archive images of trees and related subjects in my files. Wood engravings from numerous 19th century sources, and a few from the 18th century - noteably some of the plates from 1st Hunter edition of John Evelyn's 'Silva'. Also have some splendid chromolitho plates from Boulger and from Herefordshire Pomona.
Subject matter includes: trees, tree details, timber hauling, timber uses, charcoal burning, bark peeling, transporting trees, numerous ancient and special veteran trees (some still standing today), some of the ancestral homes where special trees grew/grow, orchards, apples and pears.
