BEECH - from the squat and stunted laid hedgerow trees of Devon to the mightiest hedgerow in the world at Meikleour in Perthshire, beeches both individual and as woodland aplenty. Beech on the edge of its natural range in south-east Wales, the famous population at Burnham Beeches, classic Chiltern woodlands, trees pollarded and coppiced as well as moulded into strange forms by the hand of man. Details of flowers, fruits, leaves, extensive root systems and the bark carvings of graffiti artists and lovers.
